Steven Raucher's World Tour

The climb that never was

After Bungee Jumping we were to meet up with Richard, Rachel, Paul and Jill (see Pakistan stories). There was a big plan to do some serious trekking up to Annapurna Base Camp, this went horribly wrong for me as my guts succumbed to Katmandu Belly

Delayed by two days Ariella and I were determined to catch the guys up on the mountain. Perhaps it was this sense of urgency, which led to my absolutely wimpish fall down a single step, tearing some ligaments in my ankle and ending my hike on the second day. I marched out of the mountain the next day and Ariella continued with our guide up to the base camp and caught up with the guys.

All this time I was left to roam the streets of Pokhara, getting drunk every night and doing the occasional sight seeing.

These days were mostly a blur to me, I did meet some really great people, there just seemed to be the right mix of like-minded people all looking to party. Ah, if only every small town were like this.

Highlights of this week were: getting out of bed before noon, drinking ten quarts and still standing, hiking up to the Buddhist stupa (see picture). Like I said, a bit of a blur.

Ok, Ok I'll trade in my bike.
