The story of the Karma Tourer

My baby, my Beemer, she needed a new look

Ever since my last visit to India my head has been filled with images of the lavishly adorned (and often animated) pictures and statues of the Hindu gods. So it was in this vain that I decided to have my bike repainted. Peter, of Classic Bike fame, recommended that I speak with a Swiss Expat named Patrick. Patrick has an Aladdins Cave of old BSA and Triumph motorcycles which he lovingly restores and sends back to Europe for re-sale. It is in this place that I came to meet Jens, a Danish biker-mechanic-painter. Jens undertook the transformation of my once serene black petrol tank into a double-sided portrait of the Hindu Gods, Ganesh (the Elephant God, who clears all obstacles from ones path rather handy in India) and Shiva (The Six Armed chap, who is Ganeshs father, I am not quite sure what he protects me from, but he sure looks mean!).

So it has come to be that my bike has been christened the Karma Tourer.

I am not sure how my new-look Beemer will fair in the not-so-Hindu-loving part of this world. Perhaps a tank cover will be made before I enter Malaysia

The Finished product...Ganesh in all his glory
