2000-11-06 in Milan, Italy so much for site seeing we spent the morning at the auto-electricians getting our bikes re-wired as Robert was not happy with the Bike2Bike radios (uh, yes we have those too). The afternoon was spent looking for the BMW dealer to get luggage racks and a back Protector for Robs jacket (no joy there so Robert is wearing a gaffer-taped Dainese protector instead (see picture). After non-stop rain all day we were fed up with Milan and decided to head to Florence (250 kms away) in the rain. All was going fine until the rain turned into an electrical storm and the autoroute turned into a mountain pass. Every book we have read says do not ride at night but did we listen, hell no! Ok, we have learnt our lesson. After barely arriving in Florence later that night we stayed at a very pukka place ironically named the Jolly Hotel. It was very Jolly until 7 am when the builders started work. Needless to say, Robert worked his magic and the previous nights stay turned out to be complimentary.
